The relationship between body mass index and clinical properties/survival in patients with breast cancer

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate relationship between body mass index (BMI) and recurrence/survival determine whether is a risk factor. Methods: A retrospective 125 patients with breast cancer performed. Age, sex, menopausal situation, index, tumor size, axillary lymph node involvement number, degree, hormone receptor cerbB-2 overexpression, grade, chemotherapy dose treatments, radiotherapy, metastasis, comorbidity, total survival time death were evaluated. Patients compared as BMI < 30 kg/m2 ≥ kg/m2. Kaplan-Meier method Log Rank test utilized for the overall patients. Results: In these 72 patients, 57.6% patient’s (non-obese) while 53 group (42.4%) (obese) found in group. median follow-up 158.32 months (95% CI: 130.45 186.19). mean 146 ± 46 Cl: 55.36-236.63) 144 28 88.19-199.81) non-obese obese respectively. Kaplan Meier plots drawn determination effect survival. No significant difference statistically two groups. Conclusions: recurrence/death. future studies long term follow up are needed on recurrence cancer.
